The Working Poor

“Being poor is far less the result of ‘bad life decisions’ than it is the result of being born poor.”   Toure@toure on Twitter

Language Arts and Social Studies teachers, look for a mini-Performance Task on what Americans believe about whether workers deserve a living wage.  Is the McBudget a McInsult as Leonard Pitts, Jr. claims?  Is the minimum wage worker the same worker in the same context as 20-30 years ago?  We’ll have a mini-task (1-2 class sessions) posted for you before school starts.

Here is a 1-2 class session task:  “Fast Car” Mini-Performance Task.

Here is a unit task, about 8-10 days long:  Do They Deserve a Living Wage?

Let us know how you used this and how your students did with it.
